Friendsgiving
Entering 2022, I wanted to take some time to reflect on the past year. I feel incredibly grateful for the new built friendships and relationships that GLOBE has brought to all of us in 2021.
GLOBE 16 decided to celebrate us coming together at UNC by having a Friendsgiving, with traditional Thanksgiving dishes prepared by the American cohort. For the Danish and Hong Kong cohort the festivity was new overall and I think we all grew to appreciate the food and social aspect of it.
Over the munching on Chicken instead of Turkey, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, macaroni and cheese, beans and all sorts of pies imaginable, everyone reflected on our time together and came up with one particular thing/event/person they were grateful for, making it a very meaningful get-together. For a lot of us, this is exactly what GLOBE is about, the connections and memories you make with each other.
The evening was filled with laughter and reminiscing on the past semester. Since coming to Chapel Hill, we have not only studied together, but have also been paddle boarding at Jordan Lake, went to the Universities football and basketball games together, saw artists live at the Atlanta Music midtown Festival, watched James Bond and the Dune in the cinema, went to the State Fair, booked an Airbnb in the middle of nowhere and spent fall break in Asheville, went hiking, took trips to Charleston, New Orleans, New York, Florida, Washington D.C. and so much more. Especially during Covid times, it is super special that we were able to have such a memorable semester and so many new experiences
Cheers on what 2022 may bring for GLOBE 16, and a Happy New Year to everyone reading this.
