It seems like TREBLE Batch I is in for a very long summer. A summer of moving, packing and figuring out the last bureaucratic processes before finally entering the US in the start of August. While the US visa application, applying for scholarships, and saying the final goodbyes to our families lead to both tears and frustration, we all agree that it will be worth it all when we finally arrive in the US.

While this side of the process is not very romantic and perfect, we expect the other side to be. Not that we expect it to be free of challenges and smooth, but more that we expect to grow as humans and solve problems as we go. We expect to be pushed out of our comfort zones, as this is where we will truly get to know who we are and what we truly want in life. It is funny to imagine oneself on the other side of this entire journey. How different we will be and how our lives might have changed completely. This will definitely make all the exasperation and tears worth it.

Luckily, the GLOBE Alumnis have not left us completely alone with all these challenges. They have been welcoming and extremely helpful in handling our challenges.. They have for sure been a compass that made navigating a little easier. First of all, they set up a Mentor Programme, where we each got a mentor that we could ask all our stupid questions to. And some of them even paid for our coffee so we could “save it for the trip”. Very cute of them. Besides the free coffee, they were good at calming our nerves when everything felt lost and hopeless by assuring us that they experienced the same. Besides the Mentor Programme, the Alumnis set up multiple events with firms, such as McKinsey, Kearney and Implement Consulting. All this made us imagine all the opportunities that TREBLE can give us, and how we can make a true impact in this world.

Time currently flies by so quickly and so slowly at the same time. It seems like we were accepted into this programme yesterday, and like we are going to the US tomorrow. Still, it feels like we are boarding the plane in a million years. Nevertheless, we are excited, eager, and a little anxious to start the journey of a lifetime!

See you in North Carolina!
